Correct Computer Issues With New Software

Is your pc running too slow? Of course it is – most everyone wants their computer to run faster that it does. While some of us just need to upgrade, others may have just plunked down cash for a new machine only a few months ago, and now the thing runs slower than the old clunker it replaced. Most likely you installed some software, toolbars or other gadgets on the PC and now you need a cleanup.

Adware and malware can infect even an expert’s PC, too. Slow machines are the bane of computer professionals because they are always testing new software. So what is the solution? Your computer has a hidden database called the registry. This database stores all of the software and hardware settings for your PC. This database gets corrupted over time, and needs to be cleaned up.

Improving computer performance is easy if you follow some simple guidelines. First, don’t randomly install every toolbar, smiley generator, weather program and the like. Some programs are designed well, many are not. Even if you remove a poorly written program, it can leave traces behind on your PC. Keep you software limited to the programs you need to get your work done.

Next, make sure you have a good virus scanner and firewall installed. These programs are a must today, and if your subscriptions for these services expire, either renew them or investigate some of the free software tools that are available. Another tip is to defragment your hard drive every two or three months. This will allow your hard drive to perform at top speed. These tips will not only help in improving computer performance, but make you safer online as well.

Fixing Windows problems is not for the faint of heart or the inexperienced. You can quickly do more harm than good if you do not know what you are doing. If you are not a trained expert, never try to edit the Windows registry manually, as some gurus may instruct you. There are software utilities available now called registry cleaners that can do the job automatically, and they work very well.

Be cautious when trying to fix window issues. It’s easy to end up with more problems that when you started if you don’t know what you are doing. Leave the technical stuff to an expert or buy a registry cleaning utility first to scan and fix registry errors. The small investment you make will pay off with fewer lockups and less unproductive time due to a poorly performing PC.
