Nearly all people who travel for any reason on a frequent or irregular basis will say that traveling is not generally a thrilling and enjoyable experience these days.  Normally, there are lots of details to see to, especially if you are going to be taking along the family dog.  This can certainly add a lot added stress.

The airline industry has numerous regulations pertaining to traveling with any dog.  Bearing in mind this reality, you always want to be certain to have absolute clarity on these regulations prior to arriving at the airport.

The last thing you want is to come at the airport simply to be told that your pet cannot fly as a result of some rule or regulation that you did not know about or did not totally understand.  One critical area to understand that will allow you to avert this sort of thing is to travel with airline approved carriers.

There are a couple of ways to travel with your dog depending on how small or large your pet is.   If you have a big dog, you’ll have to check the animal at the terminal.  Your dog will then be stored on the aircraft.

Large airline approved pet carriers will be useful for this situation.  You’ll need to supply your name, address and contact info as well as your final destination.  This information will then be attached to your pet’s carrier for the improbable event that something goes wrong and it somehow gets separated from your flight.

Some travelers opt to bring their pets on board just as they would any carry-on luggage.  This really only applies if you have a very small pet carrier. The carrier will have to meet the size limitations specified by the airline’s rules for carry-on bags.

Most of us think about our pets to be part of our family.  So make sure that your dog is as safe as possible whenever you travel.  By deciding on a carrier that meets or exceeds all airline rules and regulations, and purchasing  a carrier that is big enough for your pet to be able to move around, you can be confident that they will be traveling in secure and cozy manner.
